Michelle Ariss is the owner and operator of the Ballroom Class dance studio in Guelph, ON.
Michelle started ballroom dancing in 1995 as a way to get herself out of the house. It was not very long before she started noticing positive changes in herself. She started to lose weight, and was beginning to hold her head a little higher and also becoming more social by talking to other people in the class (including men). "I even caught myself with a silly grin on my face from time to time", says Michelle.
Michelle loved dancing so much and made so many new friends that she continued on to become an amateur dance competitor with Sharon as her professional partner. Sharon suggested that she start teaching one day. She said...Who? Me??
Michelle thought about it (at the time she owned and operated a garden centre) and it didn't take her long to realize what could be better than doing what you she is passionate about everyday - dance!
With Sharon at her side as her mentor, Michelle started teaching dance in 1999 and in 2011 purchased an old church which she has renovated into the most beautiful combined studio/residence.
Over the last few years Michelle has worked hard to earn her professional certification as an associate level dance instructor. She now welcomes students and friends alike into her home & studio and shares with them her passion for dance.
Sharon Levit is one of Canada's top instructors.
Sharon earned the title of "Canadian Ten Dance Champion 2006" in International-Style standard and Latin. Sharon is a very motivated, ambitious dancer and soon realized he needed another goal ...so why not learn American-Style Ballroom. He very quickly became proficient at this and in 2009 won the Title of "Canadian Nine Dance Champion" in American-Style Rhythm and Smooth. Sharon has represented Canada at the World Championships for Standard, Latin, and Ten Dance.
Sharon has been teaching people how to dance since 1998 and is loved by his beginner students and his future champions alike.
He has become a very well-liked and well-known pro-am instructor and just recently won the World Championships in American smooth as a pro-am instructor.
Sharon is the best teacher for miles around and he sets ‘Ballroom Class’ apart from the rest. He oversees everything that is taught at Ballroom Class and makes sure that there is an efficient and fun system dedicated to helping students learn quickly.
We are very honored and lucky that he has agreed to travel from Toronto to Guelph to teach at "Ballroom Class" on a regular basis.
Jordan Lee - Club Latin instructor
I first began learning Salsa and Bachata for social dancing from my mentor and good friend, Omar, during a summer I spent in Guelph in 2015. I continued to further my dance education with Omar and his instructors in Toronto, when I returned in the fall for school. As I took to dance wholeheartedly, I quickly excelled in classes and was invited to perform with a team at the Toronto Salsa Festival, Toronto Bachata and Kizomba Congress, and other venues across Toronto. Today I teach and perform Club Latin at Ballroom Class in downtown Guelph, the studio in which I first began my dance journey. My latest experiences with dance include venturing into new styles, including International Ballroom, West Coast swing, and other night club dances.
